Corporate Pop Star Proves Politician

Taylor Swift owes her current success to Kanye West once again. In the acceptance of her most recent grand achievement Kanye West shields her from the alternate headline that could have happened if it wasn’t for his controversial life: did she deserve the achievement of “Album of the year?” How is it that Taylor Swift is the only woman to receive that award more than one time, and in fact only a whopping two times total. Is Taylor Swift the most talented female musician to live since the beginning of the Grammy’s? Is she more talented than Beyonce? The answers to all of those questions is a certain no.

As she stood in front of the “collaborators” that are responsible for the success of her album she lectures the audience through the camera that no one should take credit for anyone else’s hard work or success. Perhaps the situational irony is wasted on her like most television performance artists who unknowingly perform art due to the reluctance to acknowledge contradiction.

It is her actions that are least memorable but most powerful. She is thankful but righteous and relies heavily on the sympathy she received in 2009 to justify her achievements because she made it, despite the haters.

You know, haters help the cause and without them, Taylor probably wouldn’t be as memorable and everlasting. Championing the mediocre she’s formed the image of the victim prophet. People say they are sick of the negativity, but we’re sick of the critiques that come out of the mouths of the manipulative undeserving. She should take a hint from her 2009 guardian angel who recently said “you know you that bitch when you cause all this conversation” and just go with it, because as of now the subtext of her performances continue to prove Kanye right.
